The lilan are demons, often thought to originate from Lilith or a Lilith-like entity, who attack humans during sexual activity or after. Often the lilan target humans to feed off the sexual energy and/or the life force of their target, though they sometimes seek procreation. When a lilan targets a female, it is traditionally referred to as an incubus, while it is called a succubus when it targets a male. Many lilan freely target both sexes, while others favor one over the other or shun one sex entirely. In modern times, the sex of the demon itself is often incorrectly used to define whether it is a succubus or an incubus.
