History

The Prologue

Dr. Renard Dubue of was a scientist of great accord, who had specialized in the workings of genetics, his mind always on how to find and enhance the metagenetic code. Based out in Boston, while he was not as esteemed as his comrades, he was capable of a great many things in his field. But as he began to continue to broaden the horizons of his research into darker waters, his views and ways of testing continued to go to more inhumane tactics. Renard then, continued to lose funding, his very little standing he had among his peers, and his home. Forced to live in his lab and with little left, he had to turn to drastic measures. Taking up an alias as Doctor Devo, he had started to commit crimes to try and make ends meet. He would sell some of his formulas and findings to the right buyers, and he continued experimenting on anyone he could find. Whether they were homeless or runaways, the only solace he could find was that he was doing this for science. But through several attempts, he had realized, he required assistance on the times that there would be interlopers, so he would have proper defense. While his mind was great from a genetic standpoint, he was clearly a thinker, and not a fighter. He began searching for a number 2 to help him with his endeavors.

During his "hiatus" he had spent his time in many shady locations, coming across a strip club, he had met a brunette, statuesque stripper who went by the alias, Uranus. While he thought she was rather visually appeasing with her tight form, what caught his eye was the fire in her blue eyes. He chose to leave early that night, awaiting her to step out, and approach her, because while he had done so much testing for the gene, since the beginning of his journey, he had not tried to apply it to one who for all intents and purposes seemed normal. From a distance he had witnessed several men try to force their way upon her, and while she downed 2, the rest began to overpower her, and attempt to rape her. Seeing his opportunity to not only get most of her trust among other things, he had run to her rescue, shooting her assailants in cold blood and taking her away from the scene. Within the safety of his lab, he had learned her real name. Theresa was incredibly thankful...so when Renard had offered her a chance to never feel so hopeless again, she took it. Through gene therapy, he had awakened her innate physical capabilities, giving her great resiliency, speed, and an impressive boost in strength, she renamed herself Matriarch, and while she was not huge on what Renard did, she was devoted to her savior.

With her by his side, his thefts had begun to grow in scale, with his enforcer he had felt he had all in place. What he did not expect was to fall in love with the woman almost as much as she cared about him. It did not take too long after he realized it, that he should marry her, shortly after that decision, they had if anything made their union far stronger than before.

Birth and Loss of Parents

Four years into their marriage, Renard and Theresa were very much inseparable, whether it was work related or social time. But during one of their exploits, they had come across a large shard of a mysterious material that was soaked in a form of radiation that was not of Earth. Thinking it could potentially boost Theresa's powers, hence allowing them to become more effective, he started working around the item to the best of his ability. He spent little time with her during that 5 month period, and while he managed to what he believed was breaking the code, and finding out that what his hypothesis was more or less confirmed. It was of extra terrestrial origin, but he was not very sure as to what it would do to her physiology. She, while worried just placed her trust in him yet again, and with that done, he exposed her to a ray that used the energy from it. As it cascaded on her body, it had changed her even further. Her height increased, as did her muscular dimensions, rather than being built like a fitness model, she was far more along a bodybuilder like build. Her innate talents had increased several fold. In celebration, while she still tried to get a handle on her new level of power, they had sexual relations that night. She would find out days later, she was indeed impregnated.

As Theresa moved along in her pregnancy, their escapades had lowered in number, due to her not being able to be on the field as much. While she did her best to nurse the growing child, Renard had withheld a secret from Theresa. He had developed a form of cancer from his extended time around the radiation with no real physical resiliency to it, just his at that point, worn down rad-gear. Not fully aware of the consequences of their subsequent actions, they knew Theresa would need assistance once it was time, and she was admitted to Boston City Hospital, despite knowing there were warrants for their arrests. While they were allowed to remain there, officers had decided they would in fact after the baby was born, they would move to arrest and take them both in. Theresa so very confident they would escape, just agreed to it, thinking she could be strong enough post birth. A few days later, she had given birth to Linda Danielle Dubue, whom she named after her mother, and Renard's deceased sister. Their joy did not last long, as the amount of effort required to not only deliver the child, but to ensure the child was not endangered when coming out, had severely taxed her, and like that, they took the child. Her mother unable to fight back, was pinned down, and promptly arrested, to be taken to a prison hospital. As for Renard, he had collapsed and shortly afterwards, died.

With both of her parents unable to, the State had decided to give her to her next of kin, whom was her mother's sister, Nell, whom resided in Lansing, Michigan. Nell, who was unaware her sister was even alive after not speaking to her in nearly 10 years was shocked to have her black haired, brown eyed daughter brought to her doorstep. She was in even more shock when she learned of what her sister had been doing in the time she had not heard from her. Hoping to keep the child out of her mother's reach, and give her a proper opportunity, she made the decision to pretend to be her mother, giving the child her last name.

Childhood

In their suburb, Linda did her best to get along with others who lived in the neighborhood, and was well liked by some, primarily adults. The other kids, while some accepted her offbeat, and sometimes awkward humor, others who were of the more popular variety gave her hell about it. It was not long after she turned 4, that another city in their state became the victim of a madman, in the Battle of Detroit which had caused the loss of so many lives. As the carnage continued on the televisions, and the acts of heroism were on display, she could not help but become inspired by what she had seen. When it was all said and done, and the nation had begun its mourning process, the child was so inspired that she spoke the words to her surrogate mother, "I wanna be a superhero when I grow up!" While Nell laughed it off, something inside of her just worried her, hoping that if anything the girl's wish to do so would die with time.

Despite her wish for it, as far as Linda knew, she was not capable of such things, but she could continue to read about the exploits, both fictional and non fiction. She idolized people like Johnny Hercules, Thundrax and The Blue Bruiser while she also loved reading comics and novels. While Nell did her best to instill discipline and other morals into the girl, she did allow Linda to continue reading her stories, thinking it helped keep the child creative and intuitive. It may have hurt her relationship with other kids, but she felt if anything, when it was her time, she would be ready. She had managed good grades throughout primary school, while taking up gymnastics.

Adolescence and Awakening

Into her teens, Linda had kept reading her stories, and felt she also had to do whatever she could in terms of athletics to ensure her body was ready for the side job she wholeheartedly wanted to go into when she was able. The young woman was rather agile from gymnastics, she had also taken up track, and weight lifting to more or less build her body up. As she used those to keep her in shape, she had taken up kickboxing so if anything, Linda had a way to defend herself. While it made her very unpopular with the girls, some of the boys were interested in the tomboy who often tried to... "keep up" more or less with them. While her blind pursuit for physical perfection sometimes put a strain on her relationship with the only woman she knew as her mother, they had indeed remained quite close throughout the years. As much as she wished for the chance to be remotely like the heroes she read and kept up on, by her Senior year, Linda had more or less relented to the fact that maybe this was not meant to happen, and all she would do at this point, would be to finish school, and focus on college.

Shortly after leaving a party, she would be followed by a few not very sober kids who had already graduated the year before, but were there with their friends. While she fought off some of their advances, with words, and with fists, the larger, stronger men had overpowered her. But before they could have their way, she began to convulse violently, as she laid on the ground, screaming in pain, the minor bruises on her body, and cuts slowly closing up, as her eyes opened widely. The brown in her eyes slowly shifting to a silver color, as her teeth gritted. Her body began to go through similar changes, much like her mothers... but due to her youth and several years training, it accentuated certain traits. Her fear, her anger, clouded her judgment and the rest of that night was a blur. Being under her sheets in her bedroom, she expected to see her somewhat athletic 5' 2" frame in her mirror. What she walked up to was a six foot, nine inch powerhouse of a body. What was something akin to a gymnasts build was now something like a superhuman bodybuilder. Linda was in utter disbelief, as she looked herself over, trying to understand the changes she went through, but as it settled in... her wish came true. She was indeed going to be the superhero she wanted to be. But while Linda expected Nell to be a bit hesitant due to her past issues with her talking about heroing, she did not expect the paling of her face, or her passing out.

When Nell awoke, she avoided even speaking to Linda for about a day or so, Linda more or less forced to remain home on graduation day due to not being sure how to explain how she changed so quickly. When Nell had finally decided to speak to her, it was to tell her the truth to her bloodline. She only hoped Linda could handle it.

The Truth, the Return to Boston, and the Pledge

Nell, more or less dreading this day, opened up to the 18 year old about the truth behind their relationship. The fact Linda's parents were not only criminals, but the fact she was Nell's niece, and not her daughter, although Nell felt if anything, she was her child since she had raised her. Linda did not believe it at first, in disbelief as she felt Nell was trying to disown her. But as she was shown things that only made Nell's claims that much more concrete, she could only feel her powers were a curse. A reminder of a history of sick brutality of an insane man and his super floozie. Deciding to put the decision as to what she was to do with her powers at that point, she had made the decision to go to College back in the state her parents once called home. She returned to Boston and began to attend Boston College, taking most of her courses online, with the intention of while she was running off of her scholarships, she could try and find information on her parents, and hopefully in the process, train her powers.

Back in Boston, she had realized, that she didn't quite have a place to stay. Since her courses were primarily online, and the few she did have to show up for, she hid in the back, she spent her nights sleeping in parks. As she wandered the streets of downtown one day, she had come across someone who had noticed how her face reminded them of someone they knew. Someone they called Uranus that they knew from back in the day. Linda knew it could only be the mother she had heard about. Following different leads brought her to a prison visitation room where a woman even larger than she was sat, with guards and chains all over her form. There sat Theresa, who had long wondered how her child ended up... while her mother was all in tears to see her, Linda was if anything confused and unsure how to feel. The hug was long and awkward, but she did allow her mother it. It wasn't like she couldn't knock her out if she tried anything.

As her biological mother tried to explain herself to Linda, she had noticed how the girl had more or less held the same look of disappointment on her face during it's entirety. Learning of how she was more or less in school in the area without a place to stay, she had simply offered Renard's old warehouse. While her mother promised to try and do right by her, Linda was more than sure, she would never see that. Leaving promptly she found herself in the location of the aforementioned place where her father worked, and her biological parents considered home. As she cleaned around, Linda would find tapes here and there, recordings her father had made during his research. But the one that jumped the most at her, was one he had made, roughly a week before she was born. Renard had looked haggard, sickly, but he had begun by speaking about how much he cared about her, how much his research was going to benefit humanity despite all his missteps. The Doctor just kept talking about how she may not understand when she see this, but she would over time, and as he continued, it just sickened her more and more. By the time it was over, Linda had struck the machine with a double axe handle that split the machine and caused a force that quaked through the city block. That was it. If there was anything to fuel the fire she had to become better than they were, to try and atone for their sins, now was that time. With that decided, Linda had decided, she would indeed become the hero she wished. Not only for her sakes, but to help those who could suffer at the hands of people like her father once was.

If Linda had any doubts about being a hero, they were gone now.

The Return To Michigan, and a Running Start

With what she had made from returns from her financial aid, she had saved enough checks, that once she had gotten her Associates in Exercise Science, Linda had decided to return to Michigan. The amazon promptly returned, moving into a small apartment in Downtown Millenium City, choosing not to inform Nell of her return to the state. While re-enrolling, she had continued to train much in the way she had over the last two years, using items she could get her hands on, and whatever time in scrapyards or construction sites Linda was able to sneak into. While she could not properly get a full handle on the depths of her strength, she was getting far better at attempting to manage to not break everything. She also attempted to see how resilient her frame was, through jumping off the tops of buildings, and hoping for the best as she would belly flop each time. After a year back, she had felt it was time.

While attending a bank in City Center, Ripper and several other VIPER operatives had stormed it with the intention of taking something from the vault. Seeing her opportunity, once they had tried to group the hostages up, Linda began to strike, fighting her way through several soldiers. Although she had managed the grunts rather well, what stood before her was someone she had only heard by name, and someone who was feared. As she felt the adrenaline pumping through her veins, her body reacted, tensing and increasing in mass slightly as she charged him, and began battle with the Draysha powered man. While she managed to hold her own for a bit, it was until several minutes after their battle, that 4 other heroes would come in and assist in taking him down.

When asked of her name by officers, Linda couldn't quite think of a proper one, so she just called herself Running Riot, referencing a killstreak title she remembered from a game she played in her youth. Here and there, Running Riot had appeared, whether it was something as simple as a stickup, to an issue with the Mayor, she did what she could to help the citizens of Millenium City. Nearly at the end of her first year, she had been taking a short hiatus when she was called by The Blue Bruiser, and was asked to join a special UNTIL sanctioned team. Thinking this was the opportunity she was looking for, she quickly accepted, and became a member of the Rising Force.

Personal Info

Personality

Linda is an optimistic, yet sarcastic individual. While she does her best to smile, and make others laugh, more often than not, she does do her best to skirt around her own personal feelings, since most of the time, she is more so worried about another's well being. She is normally open to conversation, and despite being a hero for nearly a year, she can still get starstruck when meeting certain well renowned heroes. Originally a doe eyed idealist, while she has started to see and understand how dark man can really be (through her parents and others actions), she does still feel she is working towards a greater goal, and just the thought of the Battle of Detroit just reignites her flame to fight for justice.

As Riot, she is very confident, arrogant, and very much so in many ways the polar opposite of Linda's "calm" persona. She sees a fight as something to exert her strength and impose her will. Anything and almost everything can be seen as a challenge.

Recently, due to the actions of On Call, both personas have merged into a singular being. Riot Linda is a very warm individual, but she is less likely to hold back her passions. She's also more than willing to force her will, and show what she is capable of. She holds both positives and negatives from both minds.

Powers

Super Strength

Linda is capable of pressing roughly in a calm state about 1300 tons. As she is angered or is more or less spurred by her adrenaline, she grows in strength in muscular mass, to a power level she has had not a chance to measure yet. It is clear though that in the rare chance she's gone past that point, it has caused her power to increase exponentially. With her leg strength, she is capable of running at 300 MPH in a straight sprint. Her agility isnt quite what it used to be since the change of her body, so she does rely primarily on her strength.

Super Durability

Linda's body is resilient to a superhuman degree, allowing her to take the brunt force of many forms of weaponry and blunt force trauma. In her heightened state, she is capable of taking a few artillery shells due to the increased bone and muscle density she gains in her more powered up states. She has not tried anything past a few missiles to the chest, and is willing to test further than that.

Enhanced Healing Factor

Linda recovers from injuries at a faster rate than normal human beings, a cut that would be gone in a few days on average would be gone in about a day and a half. Roughly cutting her recovery time in half compared to others. More severe injuries that would take weeks and months, would take days and weeks.

Enhanced Stamina

It is a side effect from her healing factor, that allows her body to produce less fatigue causing toxins, allowing her to fight much longer and much harder for an extended period of time. She is capable of a few days of strenuous activity before needing to rest or recover for a period of time.

Riot

Her "Riot" persona is another part of her psyche that unlike the rather meekish exterior she often lets out, is very confrontational, more anxious for battle, and very wild. There is not much data on this state, but from what has been seen, her natural abilities are heightened, and her strength increases exponentially the longer she is in this heightened state of frenzy, her body becomes far more durable...but it is at the cost of her rational state of thought.

Weaknesses

Mental Fortitude

While Linda's mind is disciplined, it does not mean she is not able to be manipulated mentally. Without any former training to resist some telepathic attacks... In the event she was in one of her "moods" and was coming at an experienced telepath, with a few strings, she could be redirected at her allies.

Not So Agile.

Unless something can hold her weight, ever since she has gained her new bulk, while she still has some flexilblity, it's nowhere where it used to be, so while she can move rather well for a bruiser... that's just it. For a bruiser.

Inexperience

Linda's experienced in hand to hand combat, and more or less that's it. She is still more or less learning on the job, and she is still trying to balance being a full time college student, with superheroing. It has caused occasional slip ups between her two lives, but it has more or less taken away from her attempts from a social life. While she has not minded that trade off, it has occasionally bothered her. She may still make some very rookie decisions, based off of everything shes read on fiction and otherwise.

Tendency To Be Wowed

While she has had her powers for a period of time, she is still very much like "HOLY MOTHER OF GOD" in many situations, especially when dealing with storied heroes and villains all the like. While she could probably manhandle an experienced Villain or otherwise, if their reputation precedes them, it can cause her to overestimate the situation, and cause her to be a little into her shell.

Magic

No one. And I mean no one can be ready or properly handle magic. As one who has no idea or resistance to it. Powerful magic could create a bad day.
