Background

Eagle was born a child of the wealthy. Both of his parents were doctors, they were a renowned and much celebrated pair in the field of nanotech medicine. Heck, many of the current nano-med systems of today are based in whole or in part on their designs. He was sheltered from the world's hardships, had the best schooling, the best clothes, the best toys... But there was one major problem. Eagle's parents were very strict pacifists, and with things being how they are, they deemed most any other kid his age a "bad influence". That is why Eagle grew up only in the company of adults, outside of his brief daily visit to a structured and prestigious gifted academy.

Eagle excelled at anything he put his mind to. He was soon dropped from school because they simply could not keep up with his racing mind. Day in and day out, Eagle was tutored in the many aspects of science, technology, and medicine. There were great things in store for this young boy. Until he managed to build his own T.V. set... and began to watch shows about heroes. Eagle had found his calling. He planned to one day be like the costumed idols he saw in those shows, but ran into a bit of a snag. He couldn't fly, he couldn't run super fast, wasn't super strong, and knew for a fact (he'd had his share of scrapes, cuts, and bruises) that he wasn't super tough.

What he did have however, was drive and an unbelievably quick mechanical mind. He drew up plans for his very first suit of power armor at the tender age of eleven, but didn't show it to his parents until his third revision, some six months later. The reaction was anything but what he had expected. His parents were MORTIFIED. They had done all they could to instill their son with the values they held dearest, the preservation of all life, no matter whose, and the absolute rule that no harm should ever be done to another being, for any reason. Eagle's suit, was designed to fight, for the noblest of purposes of course, but still, it would use force to injure or harm another. His father literally tore the plans to pieces while his mother sobbed quietly. Eagle was devastated, and from then on was watched closely. This lasted for a year and a half, until Eagle managed to sneak out late one evening and disappeared into the streets.

He managed to parlay his mechanical skills into a meager living, learning from various retired technicians, designers and mechanics the tricks of the armor crafting trade. He gained a better grasp over power generation systems by doing a short stint at an experimental power plant for a year with a forged I.D. He even managed to hack into PRIMUS databases and pored over the specs for their various armors. It was only then that he returned to his parents. He was 17 at the time, and though he will never talk much about the specifics, he will tell people that his old life ended that day, and his new life as "Silver Eagle" began. He was able to gain part of his inheritance early (his parents may completely disagree with his methods and what he does, but he is still their son), but in the process was no longer allowed to use his actual name, lest it cause harm to his parents sterling reputation. He used all this money to buy the components to create his first Nano-forge and some raw materials.

Thus was born his very first actual suit.

It's been a long time since then. A lot happens in eleven years. Though the one event that shaped Eagle as he is now, the most, was one of betrayal.

But you should ask him about that.

Appearance

Eagle is a pretty average looking guy. Not well muscled, but fit enough in a wiry kind of way, has a fairly mild face, and has brown hair (when he doesnt keep his hair down to stubble). No tattoos, a tracery of scars from his battles over the years, and a goatee.

Technical Skills

As you can guess, Eagle is almost magical in what he can do with technology. He has followed his parents footsteps in at least one way, his almost constant use of nanites and nanotech means that his systems are most often much smaller than usual and often self repairing. Nobody builds a better micronized fusion reactor than Eagle does.

General outlook on life

Eagle is a pretty easygoing guy. usually considered "immature" by a lot of the hero community, but more than willing to put his suit, and his own ass in the line of fire. Hell, he jumps at the chance. He "gets his kicks" by taking on tough opponents or hordes of foes, and holding the line. In his Meta-SWAT days he was one of the "shitwreckers" along with Flynn. Dirty jokes are the norm, as is lots of sarcasm and witty remarks are constant. Eagle almost never seems to "get serious" unless the shit has TRULY hit the fan. Serious eagle can be a somewhat frightening thing though. He turns from a funny and witty "character", to a coldly calculating machine. A guy with a suit that can level a city block in a jiffy, and can build man-portable fusion bombs is not someone most people should want to piss off.

In regards to other heroes, Eagle seems to classify them into three groups. The first group, are the Working heroes. Folks who realize that it's an imperfect world. Shit happens, Villains need to get whats coming to them sometimes. Justice can sometimes be better served on the street than in the courtroom. The second group, are the Shining heroes. That means the heroes who never harm a villain unduly, never compromise, and fight to uphold standards that everyone else should envy. This is what everyone should aspire to be. The third group, are the Priggs. The Heroes who slavishly follow the rules simply because they are the rules. They tend to yell at others and look down on them for violations of these sacred "rules". Eagle falls into the first group. He's done far too much wetwork (sometimes, military or SWAT work gets ugly) to see the world in the pure black and white of a Shining hero. To him, everything is shades of gray. He clashes constantly with members of the third group, though as of late he simply avoids contact with them as much as possible. The second group, well, he doesn't really feel worthy of even tugging at their capes. These are -his- heroes.

Eagle has very few people he'd actually truthfully call "friend". Currently only Hunter, Thundrax, Lightwave, and Keioseth (John, Craig, Akiko, and "ROCKSTAR!" respectively) can actually be called his friends. Especially John, these two are almost identically crazy. having them both in a room is a surefire recipe for mischief. As you can guess he has some issues getting close to people, especially women. He makes up for this of course with his outrageously dirty personality, or he tries to anyways. Most people would think he's a massive playboy, but in actuality, when the bright lights fade, and most people are going off with their loved ones, current flings, or back to their families, Eagle heads back to the Dome and tinkers with some new idea for a bit or just zonks out (usually it's the latter). The truth is, Eagle is a lonely guy, though he works incredibly hard to hide it. The only times he feels essentially "at home" are when he's with his close circle of friends. He'd give his life to protect any one of them. He's had some "close things" with a few women over the past few years, but nothing ever seems to come of it. Eagle just can't seem to bring himself to commit. Relationships frighten him more than staring down a raging Mega-destroid ever could.

Some people say he's also a huge softy... You'd never get him to admit it or find any tangible proof.

His suits, vehicles, and gear.

Unlike many "suits" called powered armor in the modern heroic sense, Eagle's iconic suit is of a more classical military design. Large, imposing, and carrying a wide array of variably destructive systems. This arsenal of weapons is backed up by very heavy armor, very strong multi-tiered energy shielding, and an incredibly advanced sensor suite. It boasts full environmental capabilities, up to and including a 24 hour independent air supply (refills itself when not in use, using available air and various chemical scrubbers), Internal climate control, a full HAZMAT filtration system for hazardous environments, radiation shielding, and enough stored nutrient paste and water (able to be recycled, and also can filter most available water sources) for a week, more if carefully rationed.

Some Viper soldiers trying in vain to halt Eagle's progress.
Eagle's ready for action, even outside his armor!
This guy found out the hard way.
The suit's shields detonate an explosive round harmlessly.

Offensive systems:

  • Arm mounted Particle beam cannons, these cannons take up the end of the suit's arms. Most of their "guts" are where the suit's wrist would be, therefore the suit has fully mechanical hands slaved to a pair of waldoes inside the heavily armored and insulated forearms. The output of these systems is variable, from a beam which will merely cause nasty burns, to a full power beam able to slice through a massive Viper tank like a hot knife through butter.
  • Chest mounted Particle cannon, capable of variable pulse lengths. This system is MUCH more powerful than those in the hands but cannot sustain a discharge for nearly as long. It too has multiple discharge levels.
  • Right shoulder mounted "plasma" smart-missile system. The missiles contained in this launcher are filled not with a regular explosive charge, but a highly compressed gas and a capacitor that is charged before firing. When detonated, the capacitor dumps it's charge into the gas, instantly converting it to plasma which bursts the casing and causes a very powerful shock/heat wave.
  • Left shoulder mounted miniaturized gatling railgun. A fairly standard small caliber high penetration railgun system. It uses multiple barrels to produce a higher firing rate, as each barrel can discharge, then recharge while another fires. The rounds themselves seem to be very dense and penetrate armor quite well, enhancing the penetration of his other weapons.
  • Orbital platform uplink. Eagle has a bleeding edge Laser-weapon satellite in orbit around the earth. It is capable of various modes of fire, from mere illumination to a crater blasting beam that lingers for quite some time and can track on multiple targets. It has two sets of capacitor banks to draw power from for the laser, meaning it can be fired VERY rapidly. Both banks are recharged by a micro-fusion reactor augmented with solar collection. Beam width is also variable.

Defensive systems:

  • Multilayered shileding array. Eagle's suit is capable of generating three force fields. One is a simple deflection field, always active. The other two layers are able to be pulse charged, refreshing their integrity with a quick shunt of power from the suit's weapon systems. The fields themselves are very durable and can also be extended (losing some integrity in the process) to protect others near the suit.
  • Nanite armor plating. The armor of the suit is composed entirely of a structured nanite lattice capable of self repair, and reorganization. The suit's combat computer also uses the suit's sensors to predict attacks that breach the shield and act to reinforce the armor in the area to be hit. The armor can also dissipate charged particle blasts and various energy attacks throughout the whole structure very efficiently, greatly degrading their damage potential. The repair comes in stages, accomplished by a constant pulse of energy throughout the plating keeping the nanites powered without requiring long term power storage in their design. Even when un-powered the nanites retain their interlocked structure, but cannot repair or reorganize themselves. The only "solid" components of the suit are the basic structure, the motive systems, power, sensors and all other internal systems, including weapons and life support. All these systems however are able to be repaired swiftly by the nanites when directed to. In order to repair the plating after extensive damage or longterm constant use, the suit must remain in contact with a series of base metals and components, allowing the nanites time to migrate to the items, replenish their stores, and make any necessary repairs.
  • Internal autodoc and biomonitoring system. The system is able to diagnose, repair, and report injuries to the pilot, without requiring anything but a regular restocking of basic medicines and compounds. There is even a built in resuscitation system, enabling the pilot to (hopefully) recover from cardiac arrest. The system is supplied by ampules in the suit's thighs, ampules that can be removed and used to treat other people's wounds using the suit's sensors tied into the autodoc.
  • Has the sign of the Crystal spider etched into the inside of it, protecting Eagle from Qliphotic entities and energies.
  • Has a set of electromagnetic Psionic dampers installed, fuzzing out various telepathic abilities and attacks.
  • Hardened against EMP effects.

Motive systems:

  • Back mounted plasma arc engines, capable of sustained flight both in and out of the atmosphere. When underwater the engines operate at a lower power level, propelling the suit with jets of superheated steam. Smaller attitude thrusters are mounted all over the suit, making the suit fully operable in space.
  • Exoskeleton and synthetic musculature array, capable of allowing full freedom of movement, and good strength augmentation. The nanite plating is bulky, but not terribly heavy, so silver has never seen a need to upgrade this part of the suit. Besides, it would take power away from the suit's weapons and shielding. This system also enhances Eagle's running speed, allowing him to attain speeds upwards of 40 miles and hour and maintain them with minimal effort compared to normal running.

Miscellaneous systems:

  • Teleportation beacon and targetted transport system. Eagle has recently designed and built a fairly "simple" teleportation system. With it he can instantly port himself or another person/item back and forth from his dome on the moon. It requires the use of a beacon, or direct access to the system itself (on the moon) and has an extremely elaborate set of security protocols preventing it's use by anyone other than Eagle himself.
  • Internal sound system. Exactly as it says, Eagle's suit has a full on stereo system. Top of the line.
  • Integrated satellite, cell, radio, microwave, and wifi connectivity.
  • integrated firewall, this system was developed long ago to prevent intrusion into his suit's O.S. by Mechanon, it has since grown even more complex.
  • Integrated "semi-smart" A.I. system. The suit can autopilot iself to Eagle, or if Eagle is inside it. Usually engaged in the case of medical emergencies, or the rare cases when Eagle is out of his suit and needs it. It is not sentient in any way.
  • Holographic projection system. The suit can project holograms infront of it for various purposes. It cannot camouflage the unit however. The maximum dimensions seem to be a ten foot sphere.

Eagle's Light suit:

The light suit has all the basic features of his usual heavy suit, but is much more lightly armored, lacks the AI capabilities, and is more difficult to enter and exit. This means it cannot stand up to the same levels of abuse, but has more power available to pump into the weapons. It also boasts faster response times for weapon acquisition and tracking, making it an offensive powerhouse. Eagle still prefers the more balanced approach of the heavy suit, but sometimes smaller can be better. Enemies have not yet realized that this light suit is piloted by Eagle, many of them incorrectly assume it is a copycat. Note: Many of the weapons on this model are smaller, yet pack more punch. Eagle continues to improve upon his micronization abilities.

Eagle's Pilot suit:

Developed after catastrophic suit breaches in some of his earlier designs, Eagle is never without this piece of ultra-tech body armor in his suit. Skin-tight and perfectly fitted to Eagle it's essentially his second skin. It too is completely sealed with a four hour self recharging air supply, HAZMAT filtration, built in comm with sattelite uplink, and a micro terminal uplinked to his lab's main computer. Protection wise the suit is made of a very complex and incredibly dense nano-carbon-fiber and electrically conductive polymer weave. This layer is backed by a sealant which is comprised of the same nanites armoring eagle's suit suspended in a thin gel layer. The final inner layers are a series of the same nanofiber weave laced with temperature control fluid tubes, bio-sensors, and the soft non-binding interior. Ballistically the suit provides protection far superior to kevlar, though it's thickness doesn't provide as much padding, leading to some nasty bruising when impacts occur. The suit also has excellent energy conductive properties, and the outer layer ablates to lessen the effectiveness of energy blasts, though heat is still a concern.

Eagle's laser pistol:

A custom built design with variable power settings and an incredibly advanced power cell. The settings range all the way from a simple laser dot (for aiming), a sunburn inducing "zap", to a tank armor melting beam. Prolonged usage at the highest setting -WILL- cause the gun to melt in the user's hands though, OUCH!

Neural link:

Eagle has developed and installed his very first piece of cybernetic hardware, a system of sensors, transmitters, and a small processor that allow him to wirelessly link with any of his technological creations. There are actually tiny transmitters embedded on the inside of his skull, and when combined with the nanotech sensors covering the surface of his brain they allow him to use his devices at the speed of thought, without ever having to touch a button. As a safety precaution, the sensors and transmitters are made of ceramics and some metal-impregnated polymers instead of straight metal. Microwaves, EMP, and even electrical shock will have no adverse effects on them. The Processor and amplifiers for the transmitters buried under his scalp though, are of a more conventional design, though still hardened as much as possible.

Chicks dig giant robots, Eag's digs redheads. Symbiosis? (click to enlarge)

Project "Aegis":

Ever since he first took on a Mega-Destroid, Eagle was completely in LOVE with the idea of something larger than a "suit". Only recently has Eagle come across enough raw material resources to make this dream something more than just a plan on a holographic screen. Nothing is yet known about what Aegis can do, except that it is supposedly many times larger than Eagle's current heavy suit, and packs on even more weaponry. The heavy suit is already a juggernaut, capable of besting even large foes such as Mega Destroids, Mega-Terak, and subduing a raging Qwyjibo all on it's own. This does not bode well for any villain worthy of it's launch. Chicks dig giant robots too.

Speculated armament:

  • Mark two Plasma missile launcher. The missiles used in this model are over three times the size of the smaller version, range and payload are therefore expected to be commensuratley higher. One system in each shoulder, they are concealed beneath heavy armor plating, meaning the larger warheads can be charged safely and possibly fired in volleys.
  • Arm mounted Heavy particle beam cannons, size and shielding would suggest a FAR greater yield than the cannons on his suit.
  • Dual head mounted gatling railguns. These weapons may have been modified for higher rates of fire, but should otherwise be identical.
  • Chest cannon array. It's size alone dwarfs that of his entire suit's torso, current yield is unknown.
  • Orbital laser platform uplink.

Speculated defenses:

  • Layered nanite plating and alloy plate armor. Limited self repair but much more durable and retains some of it's adaptive properties. Nanite armor on this scale would be prohibitively expensive in resources.
  • Aegis shield array. This system is the much larger brother of the system built into his heavy suit. It has it's own power supply constantly maintaining field integrity. The shield can also be greatly expanded, used to shield large areas behind the unit.
  • All other aspects are assumed to be the same.

Speculated motive capabilities:

  • The unit seems able to run at respectable speeds, though not blazingly fast, possibly topping out at 70-80 miles an hour. The flight systems seem to be comparable to those of his suits as well, though sheer mass and inertia make this unit much less nimble in the skies. Overall, it is much slower than his suits and not as readily able to keep up with fast aerial dogfights against man sized opponents. It is still fully capable of breaching teh atmosphere and operating in space. It's greater size allows it to carry more reaction mass, making it an excellent orbital defense unit, especially when the weapons platform is in range.

Teammate/Acquaintance commentary

"He's sorta like Einstein mixed with the Mythbusters! Except in a bad ass power suit!" - Keioseth

"Pry him outta that suit and he's a great guy to just have a beer with. In the suit he's a great guy to watch level an entire enemy stronghold." -Striker

"He's like that guy who makes stuff, with stuff. I really should know this but I can't think of it. Oh well, I'll just call him a regular Macguyver." -Giga Gal

"This otherwise exemplary officer would at first seem an obvious candidate for promotion, however, a deeper glance into his habits and social skills reveal to me that he has serious, unaddressed psychological issues regarding acceptance and trust. Therefore, it is with disappointment that I cannot endorse him for any position of authority at this time." - performance evaluation signed by David C Smith, MD, aka Psionistar

"Heh. Eagle. He's a million things rolled into one. Alla of them good. You need something techy? he's got something he made when he was four an' you were still trying to hit the neighboors kid with spitballs. Ya need ta just sit an' reflect on how CRAZY all this shit is? he's good fer that too. Inna city where half'a the people are blue, and the other half have wings, I'm glad ta have'em here. In the Army, we always had our 'Buddies,' closer than brothers. That's what Eagle is." -Hunter

"He's good people, like the rest of his crew." - Thundrax

"Eagle is cool shit, man...he's funny, smart, and he's got enough firepower to take on a small army by himself. He knows when to be serious though, and when push comes to shove, he's a great guy. Couldn't ask for a better friend." -Lightwave

"I get the feeling he used duct tape to make cardboard armor when he was a kid." - The Blue Bruiser

"He is a competent man and sefless to boot. He is a bit silly, but do not let that distract you from his true intellect." - Lenora "Ice-Heart" Carver
