Stargirl is a revamped version of a character I used to play on various sites/MMOs. She's very sincere, a little bit silly and an homage to the Golden/Silver Age patriotic superheroes(That is not to say she doesn't have a serious side as well though). If you see me in game don't be afraid to say "Hello!", I'm a friendly person and always willing to chat with other people about most anything.

Bear in mind that unless you've been told this information ICly or your character has extremely high security clearance with PRIMUS/UNTIL all the following info is strictly OOC.

Personality

After overcoming an initial shyness of people brought on by feeling like an outsider to Earth's culture, Helena has grown into her new home perfectly. She is fun-loving, caring and tries to be as helpful and sympathetic to others as possible. She has a direct and gung-ho approach to situations, often bypassing usual methods to cut to the heart of a matter.

Having received extensive military, martial arts and diplomatic training over the course of her life Stargirl makes an excellent leader or professional soldier. She is able to keep a cool head under fire and think on her feet. She puts on a very polite and respectful demeanor around officials and important people, making sure to act as an excellent representative of her people.

Helena has acquired a light drawl to her speech as a result of living in New Mexico and learning to emulate the people she lived with. She also has a habit of using outdated or corny expressions and repeating things she's heard on television, often to the befuddlement of those around her. She may talk some jive, but she always represents.

Abilities & Weaknesses

Stargirl's abilities are all a form of tactile telekinesis that converts energy stored into her body into the kinetic energy she uses to perform feats of super-strength. In addition she is able to use this power to boost her jumping to extraordinary levels and since coming to Earth has even learned how to use her body's energy to gain the power of flight. Stargirl can also concentrate and release surges of energy from her body that can push out massive pressure waves or damage electronics. When concentrated she can put an energy field up that extends to about an inch over her skin that protects her from the majority of harm. The field can also be used to speed the healing of minor injuries or extended (with intense concentration) several feet around her to protect allies.

A final power she developed after observing Barky playing in the park was the ability to create a charged sphere of energy around her body and use it to roll at high speeds.

Her military training has familiarized her with a variety of weapon systems and computers, which she can operate at a confident level though it isn't her specialty. After taking attending a number of classes and workshops offered by Harmon Industries, Helena has become accustomed to Earth's technology. She's learned to use and repair a number of weapons and simple electronic or mechanical devices.

Any thorough medical examination on her would reveal only vague dissimilarities with Homo-Sapiens. The most prominent of these differences being slightly more developed muscle tissues/organs as a result of the higher gravity of her homeworld and a strange sensation of warmth on/near her skin with no actual physical temperature difference. She's only slightly more resistant to disease and injury than the average person and is mostly spared of many human viruses by the slight differences in her DNA. If she fails to shield her body using her powers she can be seriously hurt by powerful blows, bullets, etc.

History

In the midst of a planet-wide civil war a child was born to a powerful Planetary Council member and a decorated L'Bionic hero, Zoa was a prime candidate for her people's metapowered training program. A year after she was born her parents gave her up to the powerful C'ltanai Monks and she began a long period of training to prepare her to serve in L'Bion's Peacemaking Forces. She served proudly (and unknowingly) under Commander Uaotha, who kept his identity as her father secret to spare Zoa's feelings and keep her from making mistakes because of emotional ties. During the Siege of Non, one of stars in L'Bion's binary star system, the 4500 year-old Uotha fell in battle and as he lay dieing he revealed to Zoa that he was her father and implored her to fight on. Grief-stricken, she did as he ordered and led a counter-offensive that saved the remaining healthy star Non and bought the people of L'Bion another few hundred years of life.

After honoring her father and finally meeting her mother, Zoa was awarded the planet's highest honors for bravery and outstanding service in a time of war. Impressed by the young heroine's display of prowess, the Planetary Council of L'Bion decided it would send her as an envoy to the planet Earth, a young world that had been the subject of much curiosity before the war. Zoa was tasked with keeping watch over humanity, who the people of L'Bion perceived almost as younger siblings.

After mistakenly crash-landing on Mars due to an instrument error, Zoa spent a month preparing her body to make a single powerful leap from the surface of the red planet all the way to Earth. Sadly, Zoa had the misfortune of arriving during the Qularr Invasion of 2009. Seeing the dire peril that planet that had been entrusted to her was in, she surrendered herself to a USAF pilot and offered herself in service of the Earth's defense. After days of intense fighting across the Western United States, the Qularr Mothership hovering over Millennium City was dealt a decisive blow by the Champions. Earth's forces began to rally and beat back the invaders, Zoa (Now known as "The Star Girl" by the men and women she fought alongside) aided in the Battle of New Mexico, an attack that blunted the Qularr's progress to the West Coast. In the days following their retreat, 'Stargirl' was subjected to thorough physical, mental and psionic exams to ensure she was not the advance agent of another hostile alien threat.

Helena managed to pull enough money together to purchase an empty building in West Side MC, it has since become her home and base of operations. She takes an active part in protecting her neighborhood, breaking up gang conflicts and meeting with community leaders to help organize events and initiatives to improve West Side. Many of the city's gangs now show a begrudging respect for the heroine, often forgoing their usual violence in her presence and attempting peaceful resolutions of their conflicts. The only gang that seems to be a total holdout is the "Cult of the Red Banner" who have adopted a policy of pretending they cannot speak English when she arrives on scene. Her only other problem in the neighborhood stems from a misunderstanding with an elderly man down the street named Morgan Fleming, who has taken to speaking ill of her and writing angry letters to the local newspapers about how Stargirl is "Single-handedly destroying this once great nation."

She continued to fight to protect the Earth, eventually finding friends and even family among the people of her home. Eventually she even earned the full rights and freedoms of a citizen of the United States of America, an achievement that filled Stargirl with pride and a sense of belonging after an arduous year on her new home.

Affiliations

  • United States Air Force - Surrendering to a USAF Major on her arrival to Earth during the Qularr Invasion, Stargirl was honorarily inducted into the Air Force and fought alongside armed forces in the Battle of New Mexico against the Qularr hordes. After the invasion, she was required to remain in service where she officially remains to this day and holds the rank of Captain. Though she is mostly permitted to act freely in her capacity as a costumed hero, she is required to report to her commanding officers for a service review every four months.
  • PRIMUS - Having fought with PRIMUS ground forces during the invasion, she's gained the respect of both high ranking PRIMUS officials and the lowliest of grunts. Her willingness to cooperate, accept authority and command small units in battle have earned her a place of admiration with the organization.
  • UNTIL - As a registered hero, Stargirl assists UNTIL wherever she's needed. She'll often come by UNTIL HQ in Millennium City just to boost the morale of the rank and file with some baked goods or a kind word. Her excellent reputation among the people of Earth has allowed to her to gain a high security clearance and made her some powerful allies in the UN.
  • The Ministry of Order - After a freak accident involving Grond, Stargirl was transferred to Mercy Hospital in MC and underwent treatment by Rezz. As their friendship grew over the next few months, he offered her a position as the public face of his team. She performed this duty for several months until Rezz's disappearance and the subsequent revelations in his life. Stargirl decided it was to time to find a new path for herself and dedicated herself to personal pursuits.

Trivia & Rumors

  • Barky is revered by a colony of hyper-intelligent ants in the New Mexico desert. The irradiated ants began worshiping him after he accidentally stepped on their tyrannical queen and mistakenly appointed a new democratic ant president by sniffing a random drone. The ants have built small dirt monuments to the space dog and several Barky-ologists await his second coming to the colony.
  • Stargirl is very popular in Japan. Mainly do to an internet meme on Japanese message boards that involved posting pictures of her posterior with the caption "Buttgirl" in Japanese. When she visits Japan she is often asked for her autograph and referred to as Buttgirl by crowds, much to her chagrin.
  • She's constantly practicing her baking skills, hoping to find the right mix of ingredients that convey her passion for justice and love of all living things in a single pastry.
  • Did not wreck Mr. Fleming's car on purpose. Arcosaur threw her into it and it hurt a lot. His insurance paid for it anyway! What was he really so mad about?
