While Morgan was still on the experiment table, Dekkar had dispatched several teams to capture and treat other preselected candidates with his new vitamin/steroid concoction. While most of these teams abandoned their mission upon hearing of Dekkar's subsequent incarceration, one did not. This team, the same one which had kidnapped Morgan, returned once more to Detroit with their eyes set upon another young athlete determined to complete their instructions and stay in their boss' good books should he escape the Police.

| + | [[image:Liath_TheFox_1960FoxII.jpg|thumb|left|200px|1967 The Fox (II)]] When the Scarlet Shield (Reggie Morgan) captured mad scientist Dale Dekkar and his henchmen, he did not realise that the crazed genius overjoyed at his success with Morgan had already moved to the next stage of his super warrior scheme. With Jorge working, Ricardo and Antonio spent a lot of time on the streets, but the strong ethics and catholic upbringing instilled by their father kept them out of gangs and trouble. Ricardo was a fine singer and made some money for the family performing for dinner crowds in local restaurants. Meanwhile, Antonio was a dedicated athlete — a member of many school sports teams, he enjoyed boxing the most. As a teen he entered the Golden Gloves tournaments and won several; promoters were soon paying attention to the kid with the fast hands and ready smile and he was dubbed 'El Poco Zorro' (The Little Fox).

|
A string of uncontested victories early in 1966 had put the now 21 year old professional Antonio on Dekkar's radar. And so following yet another successful bout, Antonio was resting in the Locker Room when he was surprised by a sweet smelling cloth was clamped firmly over his mouth and nose by a steel grip. As he slipped into the chloroforms cloying sleep, he felt a sharp stab in his right arm. Antonio was awakened by the vigorous shaking being administered by his trainer Alfredo. Looking around confused for a moment, he then looked down at his arm but whatever had stabbed him had left no mark. Not sure if he had dreamed the attack or not, Antonio decided not to mention it.

| A string of uncontested victories early in 1966 had put the now 21 year old professional Antonio on Dekkar's radar. Several days later when Antonio was sparring, he struck his opponent with what seemed a glancing blow but the man collapsed in agony; several ribs on his right hand side broken. After accompanying his friend to the hospital and making sure he was ok, Antonio returned home confused. Sitting on the couch his eye was caught by the news of the kidnap and escape of Reggie Morgan, a local football star. Aspects of Morgan's exploit struck a chord with Antonio - he had been feeling invigorated, energized since the night of his strange experience. He also felt stronger and faster. It seemed too much of a coincidence that he should suddenly have such a stark improvement on his own at the same time as Morgan experienced a chemically induced under such similar circumstances. Antonio presumed that while the men who had drugged him had managed to get into his locker room, them carrying his unconscious body out through the still packed arena would have been seen by some one. Over the next few weeks he followed Morgan's story and when he adopted the moniker Scarlet Shield, Antonio decided that he too should do something with these new gifts other than beating up his fellow boxers for cash.

| Several days later when Antonio was sparring, he struck his opponent with what seemed a glancing blow but the man collapsed in agony; several ribs on his right hand side broken. Antonio eventually crossed paths with, and became friends and allies with Morgan (Scarlet Shield) and the two of them would often team up to fight the gangs of late 60s Detroit. Tragedy struck however in 1971 when Antonio was shot and killed while preventing an assassination attempt on Morgan by The Combination. |
