”We all want to be the dashing rogue, riding off into the California sunset on a horse as black as night. It’s a life of ambition and pure adrenaline; one moment you can have the ear of the people and the next your tether cut and cast away… I love every freaking minute of it!Witness

”…She’s actually quite remarkable, no matter the complexity of the action she learns and retains it in an exponentially shorter amount of time than the average human being. Almost too fast. It’s a shame she has such a short attention span, but that’s just the hazards of working with subjects so young…” -Excerpt from Lillian Davis Case Study

Philosophers and mad men from ages long since past have noted that abnormalities whether they be noticeable or not tend to expound upon themselves, they gather like magnets until finally a world changing event is set into motion. The story of Lillian Davis starts not with her, not even with her parents, but rather with Freedom City itself. After the Battle of Detroit it came time to build a new city, a better city that would act as a hub for the defenders of the world. It was a city that would play a safe haven for hero and citizen alike and stand as a forward facing testament to the future. It was the destruction of Detroit that set the cogs in motion that would eventually bring Lillian to become the would-be hero Witness.

Her father an architect and her mother an affluent engineer meant that the family was prime for the rebuilding of a whole city. At the time the first district to be built and lived out of was Westside, and it was there in the year of 1998 that Lillian was born a single child to the couple who had spent the better part of six years rebuilding and planning the construction of a city. While they were well off enough to move up into the main city her father had become rather accustomed to living in Westside for better or worse, and had become something of a local community leader to keep kids off the streets and out of gangs. Lillian’s mother spent most of her days working on various tasks, but always made time for her daughter, fostering a love for various activities such as watching the old movies that her mother liked. Overall while her living conditions weren’t exactly optimal, Lillian grew up in what many would consider a loving and happy home.

Lillian was an outgoing child; even from a young age she seemed to have a way about her that endeared her to most people. Whether it be her generally over the top silly attitude or her unfading loyalty to making those around her happy she was not one to want for friends. That wasn’t to say that she didn’t have her troubles of course, some people found her silliness to be off putting, and she gained a few bullies along the way. As rambunctious as she was though, Lillian was not one to shy away from a confrontation with the ones who bullied her, and would usually give as good as she got. In a few rare instances she actually did come to blows with people; however she learned very quickly that her words and wit were greater weapons than just punching bullies out.

At about the time she hit puberty Lillian’s body began to change in more ways than anyone had bargained for, namely that her eyes began to change color until they were pink. Over a couple of days after they changed color they began to exhibit luminescent qualities, glowing slightly in the dark. Concerned about her health, the school scheduled an appointment to have some blood drawn from her and it was sent off to Millennium General Hospital to be tested. The tests came back with a group of doctors who were suddenly interested in the girl’s personal development, as it turned out the blood work indicated a latent recessive gene not dissimilar to the genetic make-up of most mutants. With consent from both her parents and herself the Doctors whisked the girl away to a facility where she would spend weekends training and testing her abilities. Her abilities seemed to run the gamut of a normal muscle mimic, she could pick up and retain skills that she saw preformed in a short amount of time. However that did not account for her glowing eyes or ability to have her sight penetrate through some surfaces, these seemed to perplex the scientists as they seemed like static mutations.

Months into her training the Scientists completely disappeared from their facility, leaving no trace that there had been a struggle or anything. Unable to go to the police without any proper evidence of foul play Lillian decided that perhaps it was time to put her skills to the test and actually go out and find the missing scientists on her own. She took the hero identity of Witness and modeled herself after Zorro, carrying around swords and trying to be a dashing swashbuckling hero. She’s on a mission to find what became of the scientists, but she’s also having a blast playing hero for the very first time in her life. She hopes that she can become a great enough hero to be considered among the ranks of the Champions one day.

Abilities

Minor Penetrating Vision When she first came by this ability Witness had absolutely no control over it, it allowed her to see through materials that were not very dense, such as cloth, plaster, and some types of wood. Fortunately for her and ever teenage boy and girl within her direct line of site however Witness has gained a fair amount of control over this ability. She can still see through peoples clothes, but now she has to actually focus on the ability in order to do so, which is not something that she really ventures to do very often. When she’s under duress she can slip back to her old ways however and sometimes sees more than she would like from people she adventures with.

Skill Adaptation To put simply, muscle mimicry is the ability to copy someone else’s muscle movements to a level of precision that others would not be able to do. In some cases this can confer information to Witness, she could gradually learn how to do something to the same point as someone else given the proper amount of time to learn it. This makes itself most present in the fact that she can gather information about people by the way they walk about and move, like if an enemy were concealing a weapon. Other skills could be picked up but they would require weeks of work over the years to months of work that normal people would have to do to master said skill. To put into perspective, just because Lillian might see someone perform a jump off a motorcycle through a flaming ring does not mean that she’d immediately have the knowledge to get the motorcycle to said flaming ring, however over a matter of time she'd eventually confer information about the operation of the motorcycle to her skillset. This makes the ability simultaneously very powerful and very dangerous for continuous usage, it makes it so that Witness can potentially preform any action that’s presented to her and also makes her physical skill potential innumerably high. However in the hands of someone in the know she could be kept from seeing the full range of movement or misled as to how the skill is successfully operated increasing the chances of hurting herself. As well with the nature of her receiving so much information so fast her skills tend to degrade faster than a normal persons as well, if she doesn't keep in constant practice with her skillsets she starts to lose the ability to preform them within days to weeks depending on the complexity of the skill. Witness has no knowledge of the full extent of this ability herself; she doesn’t understand what exactly happens to her when she watches something. As such it’s a wild card as to if this power would ever be useful to her or not in her current developmental stage.

Fighting Skills As stated before, with her muscle mimicry steered in the right direction she can be led to nearly infinite potential at just about anything that she put her mind too. Luckily Witness didn’t really need to put her mind to anything as she had a group of scientists to do so for her. After only a couple of months of training fighting has become something of a second nature to Witness. She was trained in multiple styles of fighting, preferring the sword due to her near obsession with old movies, though she also likes to use throwing implements to keep herself safe. She wasn’t just trained how to fight however, but the scientists also trained her how to react and use her gifts to make split second decisions during a fight, making her a bit of an idiot savant when it comes to combat situations. Unfortunately there are a couple of things holding her back as far as being the best fighter on the face of the earth. Namely while she has the skills mastered she lacks any sort of actual fighting experience, as well while her mind and body might have grasped the concept to perfection she certainly doesn’t have the musculature of someone who spent years honing their mind and body. When put up against someone of similar skill who attained it through natural means, has the experience to use it, and built their body to a fine edge she would most likely lose if not for her adaptability.

Weaknesses

Inexperienced It takes someone with years of worldly experience to properly make the right decisions when faced with a crisis. And unfortunately Witness just doesn’t have any of that going for her, never mind that she hasn’t been in the hero game for long, she’s immature and unsure of the full extent of her abilities. Whiles she may not require training in the traditional sense, without some guidance she’s more likely to get herself and others hurt than she is to actually do some good.

Brash Call it what you will but Witness’s personality type screams overconfident. She’s always willing to shoot first and ask questions later, and that’s what she’ll do without a second thought if she’s not reigned in. Time and again she’s fallen prey to the leap before you look mentality, yet like a mouse in a maze she just keeps going back for the same piece of cheese rather than moving forward.

Right in the Kisser Jumping and dodging around giant fisted bad guys is all well and good, but when she gets hit she gets hit hard. Take away her fancy swords, and all that training and you’ve got a girl who might as well be on the cheerleading team rather than fighting things that are normally three times her size.

Personality

In case one hasn’t guessed by this point or they just happened to land on this particular part of the biography, Witness is what some might call a rambunctious youth. Others still would call her a living terror, but that’s really just an old person way of saying that she’s full of energy and life, so much so that a lot of people have a hard time keeping up with her. Lillian is mostly always bright and cheery, confident that she’s bringing joy to someone around her just by existing. She likes hanging out with friends, telling jokes and silly stories about nothing in particular. Witness is in the superhero game not out of some sense of responsibility or revenge, but rather because she finds the idea to be the sort of adrenaline rush that she looks for on a day to day basis. When put down to it, all the adventure movies that she watches and obsesses about are her way of living vicariously through the characters on the silver screen. She seeks fame and fortune in her hero work because she's absolutely starved for any sort of danger rush that she can get, and jumps headlong into situations that could get her killed because they present the ultimate challenge to her. Even with her deciding to be a hero because it seems fun to her, she doesn't trivialize the responsibility that she has to other. Deep in her heart she believes that what she does is important to other people, so she goes through her day making sure that she protects everyone she meets and sees to the best of her ability. She understands that the characters in her adventure movies go on the adventures that they do for a greater purpose, and though her purpose is not a defined one she does her best not to tread on the purposes of her fellow superhero or the citizens that she protects. On the dark side Witness is constantly unsure of her abilities, she’s constantly trying hard to make people happy, to push herself to be the best that she can possibly be. But like most teenage girls she languishes under the thoughts that she might not be very smart, or funny, or lively, or pretty enough for the people around her. She's more often than not constantly trying to find who she is in relation to other people, to define herself against what other people see her as which in turn makes her work even harder to make everyone possible like her, causing her to obsess when she meets people who are critical of her in any way at all.

So you want to roleplay with me huh? You think you can handle this?! Do you punk?

Well okay then! Here’s some friendly tips for you to engage in roleplay with me, they’re not so much tips as just scenes that you might have with me if you just so happen to see me around. They’re something that we might share in common or whatever.

Westside High Student – Lillian just became a freshman at Westside High and has made short work of making herself comfortable. She’s pretty much seen as the school gossip, constantly drifting around the different cliques and groups like the little social butterfly that she is.

Grown Up Millennium –Her mother and father have lived in Millennium since it was first being built, heck they helped build it for crying out loud! You might have seen her at various fundraisers, you might have seen her at community events in Westside, heck you might have just noticed her walking down the same street day after day. Point is that Lillian has been in the city since she was a baby, she’s bound to know someone.

”It was not my sword, Mondego, but your past that disarmed you!” There’s nothing like a good movie right? Nobody shows those old movies on the reels anymore; right? Wrong! If you’re a big enough movie fan and you know the right places you can find a theater that still plays all those old glorious movies. It’s a fairly small community, so you can find Lillian pretty easily wrapped around a tub of popcorn watching Zorro fight for justice.

I'm on the Youtubes! The internet is full of people. And sometimes those people like to do things like write blogs, or make journals about their lives, so much so that other people like to take time to read said journals or blogs and follow the lives of other people. People on youtube who make videos about their own lives are often called youtubers, they like to share information and details about their lives to other people. Witness has taken to making a series of superhero videos on the youtube channels where she talks about her hopes and dreams as a superhero and her various exploits throughout the city. Perhaps you might have seen some of these videos, or maybe you're one of her subscribers?
